Bulgaria has very strict and very active speed enforcement. Mobile cameras, unmarked police cars, and temporary speed traps are common on major roads and in small villages. The limits can change suddenly, and it’s easy to miss a sign if you’re not familiar with the area. To make your journey easier, I strongly recommend using the Waze app. It gives real‑time alerts for speed limits, cameras, and police checks, and most local drivers rely on it.
Georgi Dimitrov 83, 7852 Kovachevets
From Sofia Airport: As you approach Kovachevets (road 51), you will see a sign on your left. Follow the road round until you enter the village (you will pass a small lake on your right). We are the 4th house on the right.
From Varna Airport: (road 51) go past all the signs for Popovo. You will pass Kovachevets Castle on your left. On the right you will pass a layby with a restaurant with the front end of a boat in it (I know) on your right. The turning for Kovachevets is the next right. Stay on the main road until it starts going up hill and bears to the left. Muddy Puddles Farm is on your left just after the bend the bend. If you pass the lake turn round, you have gone too far.
Look for the sign on our wall
